“Heaven or Las Vegas is 26 today”

Heaven or Las Vegas, Cocteau Twins sixth album was released in the UK 26 years ago on 17th September 1990 (reaching no 7 in the UK charts). As it’s one of our all time favourite albums from one of our all time favourite bands, we thought it would be a good moment to access our archives and reveal a few images as a background to the artwork that housed the music.

As a design student, Form partner Paul West had written his thesis on the marriage of album cover art and the music it packaged, managing to interview 4AD design legend and true inspiration Vaughan Oliver from 23 envelope (V23). A friendship was struck—culminating in Vaughan asking Paul to work on Blue Bell Knoll (Cocteau Twins’ fifth album [released in 1988]).
